My New Bookish Journey

I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself in this post. Hello, and welcome. I’m Christina (but my friends call me Nana) and I’m a 20-something-year-old from Greece. I’m that bookish introvert with my tablet or smartphone always in my hand at every chance I get (I can never understand what’s the problem with long queues) reading a book, highlighting quotes like crazy and cancelling plans to stay at home and read.

(Dear fellow book lovers, don’t come at me, I know that physical books hit differently, but I’m a simple gal, with serious dermatitis issues in my hands and I avoid papers, cardboards etc. intensively. Also, I’m kind of broke and digital books are more affordable, and I’m such a tech enthusiast that I love anything in digital format. Don’t even let me start on the accessibility and ease of having eBooks always with you —did you know you can listen to your books with the screen dictation feature on your iPhone? You’re welcome! That being said, I wish I could collect all my favourite titles in physical format though, just to decorate them on my bookshelves —don’t kid ourselves. I will still be reading on my iPad.)

Back to the point, I think I sometimes come across as a snob, reading in public or social gatherings (oops!), but I loved reading since I was a little kid and I was not too fond of loud noises and television. I still remember the first books I read, I still remember how captivated I was by them and I still have them in my bookcase patiently waiting to pass them to my niece.

Apart from high school, where I had a gap in my reading adventures, I started reading again when I was in university. At that time, and probably until 2-3 years ago, I became very interested in personal growth so except for some fiction and poetry here and there, self-help books were all I read. Fast forward to 2021 and after some Harry Potter re-read, I was inspired to read all six of the Fifty Shades of Grey books for the first time (yes I know, right?) Well, that was it. I started reading romance novels and I haven’t stopped since.

Most of my days and thoughts are filled with books, my social media have turned to digital libraries and book clubs and I’m just super excited to share my passion for books with everyone I know.

Unfortunately, not everyone is interested in books and book boyfriends like me, so my need to share my thoughts is dripping from all over me. Plus, I struggle with the lack of hobbies in my life and I feel so happy when I get to create beautiful things. So, my love for digital creation + my love for books = bookstagram!

As I embark on this literary adventure, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. My new bookstagram account will not only be a platform to connect with fellow bibliophiles and explore the world of literature but also a space where I can share my love of books and digital creation. I aim for this blog to complement my bookstagram account and capture my personal journey as I work to become my best self yet.

I envision my bookstagram as a cozy virtual book nook, where individuals can find inspiration and recommendations, and engage in discussions about their favourite reads. Through aesthetically pleasing photos and heartfelt captions, I aim to give an outlet to my suppressed creativity and hopefully, I can help my mental health by doing so.

I cannot wait to dive into the pages of new loves, knowledge and adventures, share my thoughts on compelling narratives, and build a community united by a shared adoration for books.

So come and join me as I turn the pages of this new chapter, where each heartwarming quote and each book recommendation becomes a part of this beautiful bookish journey!

Love,

Christina xx
